'In a word' and Saturday Snapshots

It’s a ‘twofer’ day around here today (two entries for the price of one) – an ‘In a word’ meme from Joanna and Saturday Snapshots from Amanda.

First off…

I discovered from taking part in the last meme, passed to me by Joanna at The Fifty Factor, that I really like talking about myself!  Now there’s a surprise!  Joanna’s come up trumps again, this time with an award/ meme passed on from Holly Dietor of Your Mother Knows But Won’t Tell You.  (‘HDoYMKBWTY’ makes me think that I should really come up with a very much better name for this blog that started as ‘an experiment’ about a year ago now).

This meme requires one word answers to the following list of questions.  So without further ado…

1. Where is your cell phone? Handbag
2. Your hair?
3. Your mother?
4. Your father?
5. Your favorite food?
6. Your dream last night? Surfing

7.Your favorite drink?
8. Your dream/goal? Dream:
Lottery – Goal: Happiness
9. What room are you in?
10. Your hobby?
11. Your fear?
12. Where do you want to be in 6 years?
13. Where were you last night? Home

14. Something that you aren’t?
15. Muffins? Scones

16. Wish list item?
17. Where did you grow up?

18. Last thing you did? Showered
19. What are you wearing? Clothes

20. Your TV?
21. Your pet?
22. Friends?
23. Your life?

24. Your mood? Relaxed
25. Missing someone?
26. Vehicle?
27. Something you’re not wearing?
28. Your favorite store?   Craft

29. Your favorite color?
30. When was the last time you laughed?
31. Last time you cried?
32. Your best friend?
33. One place that I go to over and over? Supermarket!

34. One person who emails me regularly?
35. Favorite place to eat?

It was quite telling to think of some of those, so thanks for that Joanna.  Let me know if you’d like the flame passed to you.  I’d love to see your one word answers.

Now for Saturday Snapshots.  It’s the fourth photo from my fourth folder, with an explanation to follow:

It’s my car – a little Smart cabriolet.  I lost my confidence with driving post stroke so for me the smaller the car, the better.  I always wanted a soft top so when it came time to change my car and this little Smart cabriolet was on the forecourt, available to drive away (very unusual here), it just seemed made for me.  I love the design of this car – it reminds me of a baby’s bootee!

The location probably looks very arty.  It was photographed outside an old holiday camp on the island’s stunningly beautiful north coast.  The camp shut down many years ago and is now crumbling and vandalised while developers, conservationists and our parliament continually argue about what should be done with it.  (We don’t believe in making hasty decisions here).

And finally (I love the ability, in my blog, to start not only a sentence with the word ‘and’ but also a whole paragraph)

And finally…please don’t forget!!!

Saturday Snapshots

Posted for Chere’s Saturday Snapshots, the prompt for which this week is ‘something green’.  This went up on my Flickr photostream last year and pulled in a grand total of just 3 comments.  It’s actually one of my favourite photos, which just goes to show that you never can tell what people will and won’t like.  I do hope that when I reveal my my ‘new venture‘ (shortly now) you will at least go and look.  (Pretty please?) I promise you that it won’t all be arty shots of leaves, (heh…not by a long shot actually) and that it may well be to your advantage!

Saturday Snapshots

Posted for Teasingly Diverse’s ‘Saturday Snapshots’ (‘1st folder, 1st photo’).  It’s quite a coincidence, given Chere’s own photo, that mine too is of a young animal.  This is our cat Bo, photographed at the start of last year when she was about 16 weeks old.  She is ‘modelling’ a Fererro Rocher hat (as provided by my youngest daughter).

Green and Bronze

Here I am posting for Chere’s ‘Saturday Snapshots Carnival’.  On time.  Yay! Go me!

This is following the prompt: ‘April 2009, 28th picture’.  (Please join in and post your own photo…won’t you?  Instructions are over at the above link).

Actually it’s lucky it was the 28th picture really because shortly before this was a series of photos of our patio being built. (‘How exciting’ I hear you say).

This photo was taken in the early morning when I noticed that there was an incredible golden light illuminating the branches of the trees at the bottom of our garden.  It highlighted the moss-covered limbs of a big old oak and made the twigs of a prunus tree shine red and bronze.

Saturday Snapshots (late again)

I completely forgot to post my photo for Chere’s Saturday Snapshots but I like the whole idea of someone posing the criteria and I see which photo it comes up with, so I’m posting this anyway.

This is from my penultimate photo folder, first photo in the 10th row.  It was taken in London in 2001 and is the view from the Tate Modern Gallery, looking across the Thames towards St Paul’s Cathedral.  The recently opened Millennium Footbridge is in the foreground.

The skies were so, so grey that day that the colour version looked, well ~bleuch~.  I changed it to black and white, which does at least give more definition to the buildings.

I’d love to see some of your photos so why not join in the ‘Saturday Snapshots Carnival’, even if, like me you are late posting?
