Saturday Snapshots (late again)

I completely forgot to post my photo for Chere’s Saturday Snapshots but I like the whole idea of someone posing the criteria and I see which photo it comes up with, so I’m posting this anyway.

This is from my penultimate photo folder, first photo in the 10th row.  It was taken in London in 2001 and is the view from the Tate Modern Gallery, looking across the Thames towards St Paul’s Cathedral.  The recently opened Millennium Footbridge is in the foreground.

The skies were so, so grey that day that the colour version looked, well ~bleuch~.  I changed it to black and white, which does at least give more definition to the buildings.

I’d love to see some of your photos so why not join in the ‘Saturday Snapshots Carnival’, even if, like me you are late posting?

Audrey Hepburn

audhep1A new exhibition in London will be showing virtually unseen pictures of Audrey Hepburn by Hollywood photographer Sam Shaw, famous for having taken the photo of Marilyn standing in a billowing white dress over a subway vent.  The exhibition, which also celebrates Marilyn Monroe, runs from 30th April to 5th July at the Proud Gallery in London and is timed to coincide with what would have been Audrey Hepburn’s 80th birthday, on 4th May.

It’s been a few years since I visited ‘the big smoke’ and I’m unlikely to find the time to visit before the exhibition’s end.  Such a pity, this is something I would love to have seen.

Do you find that you like Lily Allen’s music, even though you feel you shouldn’t?  Her songs may initially sound simple and juvenile but then you get pulled in by her clever lyrics that are like poetry and that’s it – you’re singing along.  One of my favourites here – such a cheery sounding ditty … until you catch what she’s singing about.  Makes me glad to be living in the boondocks!

Ghostly observer?

Photo taken from Obama’s victory speech in Ohio: See the ghostly face in front of the new President’s?  …Spooky!…
